Mission Statement:
The purposes of this ministry is to provide children and youth a community of faith in which to explore and affirm who they are as gifted people of God, in a safe atmosphere, and actively live out their Christian faith within the Body of Christ and all of God’s creation.
Job Description:
Fremont United Methodist Church is seeking an energetic and adventurous person to develop and sustain long-term relationships with our youth and families. Successful applicant will direct and promote all child and youth programs and provide spiritual development opportunities through fellowship, worship, mission, and bible studies.
15-20 hours                                                               **Job may be split into two part time positions
Essential Duties and Interpersonal Skills:
Coordinate children’s education program.
Coordinate and lead all youth activities for grades 6-12 (youth group, retreats, mission trips, special events, youth group fund raisers, and Sunday school).
Coordinate volunteers to work with children and youth programs.
Serve as a liaison between the congregation and the community through outreach, nurture, fellowship and education.
Utilize and encourage talents and gifts of members of the church and community.
 Possess the ability to create a safe environment and support all youth on their journey of faith.
Provide age appropriate mission/service trips for youth and families.
Work closely with pastor, church, parents, volunteers, and staff.
Develop working relationships with area youth directors.
Strong personal Christian faith that is accepting of diverse theologies and viewpoints.
Strong organizational and networking skills; positive interpersonal skills; and effective communication skills.
Reach out to the community in new and creative ways.
 
Requirements:
Bachelor degree or equivalent.
Teaching or Christian Education degree desired.
Not necessary to be United Methodist, but must have an openness to United Methodist theology.
Demonstrated the desire and ability to be a team player and to form relationships with youth.
Sunday commitments
 
Conditions of Employment:
References from three people, including one employer and one pastor.
90 day probation period
Salary is commensurate with education and experience
