Community Outreach Program Coordinator for Local Church (Morningside United Methodist Church)

Morningside United Methodist Church (MUMC) in Salem is hiring a part time Community Outreach Program Coordinator for 6 to 10 hours a week. The Community Outreach Program Coordinator will work closely with other church positions including the Christian Education Program Coordinator and Youth Ministries Program Coordinator in order to provide cohesive support for the children and families in our church and community.

Passion #3: Progressive Christianity -- a belief that God is calling Morningside to provide a setting conducive to lively exploration, questions, and conversation regarding current biblical scholarship and emerging theological trends.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Work with the Community Connections Ministry Team to recruit and train volunteers to lead and serve in outreach programs, including the weekly school year Kid's Club and monthly school year Parent's Night Out.
• Participate in Kid's Club and Parent's Night Out.
• Maintain records and ensure compliance with Safe Sanctuary policy.
• Meet with the Community Connections Ministry Team monthly to support planning and implementation of new ministries in the neighborhood.
• Help facilitate communication between the Ministry Team and church staff.
• Connect with people beyond Morningside to share ideas and coordinate larger community projects.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
• Excellent interpersonal communication skills and the ability to work effectively with persons of all ages.
• Excellent organizational skills and the ability to develop, coordinate, and manage a multifaceted program.
• Experience in community outreach, and principles of effective program planning and implementation.
• Experience with volunteer management, including recruiting, training, coordinating and supporting volunteers.
LOGISTICS
• This is a part time position at 6 to 10 hours/week.
• Compensation at $12 to $16/hour depending on experience.
