APPOINTMENT ANNOUNCEMENTS

It is Bishop Robert T. Hoshibata's intention to make the following appointment, effective July 1, 2012:

The Rev. Manohar (Mantu) Joshi to Pioneer United Methodist Church in Portland, Oregon. Joshi is an elder in the California-Nevada Annual Conference, currently on family leave and living in Portland. The appointment to Pioneer will be quarter-time.

It was also announced that Valerie (Val) Ford, a student intern from Iliff School of Theology, will be assigned to Oakridge United Methodist Church in Oakridge, Oregon. Ford’s Lay Assignment will be half-time. She is a candidate for ordained ministry in the Southern District.

Bishop Shares Thoughts on General Conference
General Conference 2012 ended 10 days ago. Since then Bishop Robert Hoshibata has been gathering his thoughts and processing how to share with the Annual Conference. He made a start today with a blog post about his feelings surrounding the issue of the church’s stand on the acceptance of Gay, Bi-sexual, Lesbian, and Transgendered people, and the vote held at General Conference to consider changing the church’s position.
