DESCRIPTION:	The Oregon Idaho Commission on Religion and Race will be of
 fering another opportunity for clergy and laity of our Confe
 rence to receive cross cultural competency training right be
 fore the Annual Conference session in Boise.	The training ca
 lled “ A New Heaven and  a New Earth” will be held Wednesday
 , June 19, 2013 at Whitney United Methodist Church,3315 Over
 land Rd, Boise, ID 83705.  The cost will be a donation for l
 unch. Times are 8:30 a.m. Registration, 9 a.m.- 5 p.m.  Prog
 ram.	The leadership for this training will be provided by Kr
 istina Gonzalez, conference staff from the Pacific Northwest
  Conference and a team which will include some” trainers in 
 training” from  Ore- Id Conference.   This training is offer
 ed a second time without registration cost because of a gran
 t from the General Commission on Religion and Race. It is de
 signed to fulfill the clergy requirement for Cross Cultural 
 Competency training passed by the Annual Conference in 2009.
   CORR is also working on providing future trainings that wi
 ll fulfill the requirement.  Please register by June 3 so we

DESCRIPTION:	Registration is open for Exploration 2013 in Denver, Colo.,
  an event for young adults age 18-26 to hear, discern, and r
 espond to God's call to ordained ministry in The United Meth
 odist Church. Featured speakers will include Bishop Cynthia 
 Fierro Harvey and the Rev. Jorge Acevedo.	“If you think God 
 might be calling you to ordained ministry, if you wondered w
 hat ordained ministry in the UMC looks like, or you want to 
 be with other people who are sifting through these issues as
  well, this gathering is for you,” said the Rev. James “Trip
 ” Lowery, the General Board of Higher Education and Ministry
 ’s Director of Young Adult Ministry, Discernment, and Enlist
 ment. The event, scheduled for Nov. 15-17, is held every oth
 er year and sponsored by GBHEM.	Applications are also being 
 taken for speakers who are involved in a unique ministry, a 
 faithful traditional church, or a transformative faith commu
 nity and would like to share that story to help those attend
 ing Exploration clarify how God is calling them.	Ordained cl
 ergy are also being recruited to write on the same topic on 
 April 4 to promote awareness of Exploration. The topic is “W
 ho called you on your jorney of ministry?” Suggestions inclu
 de writing about your mentor or inspiration for going into o
 rdained ministry.	Bishop Fierro Harvey, episcopal leader for
  the Louisiana Annual Conference, is the former deputy gener
 al secretary for the United Methodist Committee on Relief (U
 MCOR).	Acevedo, who will preach during opening worship, is t
 he lead pastor at Grace Church , a multi-site, United Method
 ist congregation in Southwest Florida. Grace Church is recog
 nized as having one of the largest and most effective recove
