Stewardship is our answer to God for the gifts given to us. We give back from the abundance of life that God has given us. When we do so with love, grace, and gratitude it strengthens our relationship to God and helps us build the kingdom of God - right here on earth.
Upcoming Training Event for Local Churches
Brought to you by The Bishop Jack and Marjorie Tuell Center for Leadership Excellence
“This is absolutely the best stewardship content that I have witnessed, and I've seen a lot of resources!”
Bishop Grant Hagiya
Is your church ready to take a new look at the issue of money, giving and the Sunday offering plate? Your church is invited to send a leadership team to participate in a training experience that could change the way you and your congregation approach giving and generosity!
Does your church:
- Believe in their congregation’s capacity for greater generosity?
- Have a desire to become more comfortable with money?
- Are willing to redefine giving in your congregation?
- Understand giving to include service, social networks, and the sharing of ideas and professional expertise?
Register now for an exciting new training opportunity for local churches: Creating Cultures of Congregational Generosity. This intensive training on generosity was developed by the Lake Institute on Faith & Giving. It was Bishop Hagiya’s vision to partner with the Indiana University Lilly Family School of Philanthropy to bring this program to the Conference.
The Greater Northwest Area, in conjunction with the Tuell Center, is offering this training for the third time in the past two years. It is a nationally renowned interactive stewardship seminar demonstrating how pastors and ministry leaders can unearth and energize congregational generosity by exploring the significant and necessary steps to creating lasting cultural change within a congregation. All of the workshop leaders have been trained by the Lake Institute and are certified to present this material.
This session is targeted for congregations in the Sage District of OR-ID and the Seven Rivers and Inland Districts of PNW. However this workshop is open to all congregations prepared to send a leadership team of three to four people.
When: Friday and Saturday, September 11th & 12th, 2015, beginning at 10:00 AM on Friday and ending by 5:45 PM on Saturday.
Where: Hillview UMC, 8525 W Ustick Road, Boise, ID 83704
Cost: $300 for a team of three, $350 for a team of four and $87.50 for each additional participant – includes materials, training and meals.
Register online now! The registration deadline is August 20, 2015. We encourage you to bring a team that includes the pastor, and a church leader from the Finance Committee and one from the Governing Board, along with a member with an “entrepreneurial spirit.” A minimum of three people per team is required.
