Signs of Life:
The Asbury-Our Redeemer Partnership -- Hood River, Oregon
Sometimes in Spirit Alive, I will share an example of a “sign of life” that I see in the larger world. For this installment, I traveled to Hood River, Oregon to learn more about the Asbury-Our Redeemer Partnership, between the congregations of the United Methodist Church and the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America. I hope that by learning more about what is happening there you will see new opportunities for mission and ministry within your own community. Learn about the Asbury-Our Redeemer Partnership through the eyes of Rev. David King, pastor, and Gigi Siekkinen and Debby Chenoweth, lay members from these partnership congregations.
See what I learned ...

After you’ve watched the video, consider these questions:
- How are you working ecumenically within your own community? Are there other ways to be engaged in ministry together?
- Are there other community partnerships that you could develop?
- What community assets and resources are you overlooking that could help you strengthen the sense of Christian witness and help you serve the community in more significant ways? Who could be involved in these activities?
Blessings on your journey,
Lowell
Spirit Alive is a weekly blog and email by Rev. Lowell Greathouse, Mission and Ministry Coordinator for the Oregon-Idaho Conference. It will seek out where the spirit is alive in our congregations and communities. These are signs and examples of life that can be expressed in inspiring books, vivid videos, and works of art. Spirit Alive is intended to point to these “signs” in ways that touch our hearts and nurture our faith journeys. Check out past editions, or subscribe to the email list.
