Signs of Life:
Tigard United Methodist Church/ The Bethlehem House of Bread
“…And it was in Antioch that the disciples were first called Christians.”
Acts 11: 26
The Sign of Life that I want to share this week is fromTigard UMC and The Bethlehem House of Bread. Amazing things are happening there, and those involved in this ministry are being fed in a variety of ways: body, soul, and mind. In fact, The Bethlehem House of Bread is an example of what can happen when you take a risk in your mission and ministry as a church. One thing can easily lead to another…and pretty soon you find yourselves doing things you never imagined were possible when you first began.
Look at what I learned:
When you finish watching this video, consider these questions:
- What is something new that your congregation could try in the community?
- How would you know it was making a difference?
- Is there something that you are already doing in ministry that could lead to something else new?
Blessings on your journey,
Lowell
I want to take this opportunity to thank Greg Nelson, AC Director of Communications, for his on-going technical support for Spirit Alive...and David Jenkins, for his assistance in editing this recording of The Bethlehem House of Bread story.
Spirit Alive is a weekly blog and email by Rev. Lowell Greathouse, Mission and Ministry Coordinator for the Oregon-Idaho Conference. It will seek out where the spirit is alive in our congregations and communities. These are signs and examples of life that can be expressed in inspiring books, vivid videos, and works of art. Spirit Alive is intended to point to these “signs” in ways that touch our hearts and nurture our faith journeys. Check out past editions, or subscribe to the email list.
