A way to make this Christmas special

Christmas is coming fast! Get togethers, big meals, gifts to exchange … ahhhh! Sometimes it’s just too much! I know a way to make this Christmas special. What follows is a sure-fire method to find Christ among the madness.

When your mind is atilt with plans and demands, stop. Slowly inhale. Slowly exhale. Repeat. Get out of your head, my friend. Focus all your attention on someone else and serve. Give yourself up and meet the needs of another. Spend as much time as it takes to restore the peace and love available by the birth of our Savior. Feel this incredible gift right down to your toes. You are so loved!

What? But there are cookies to bake! Buy them. Skip them. Most of us are a little chubby anyway. But the family is coming over for a grand feast! Feast on the love we have for each other – there’s nothing else like it. You can eat deli foods but unconditional love is to be savored. But the house is dirty and Aunt Whoever will be here! Clean the toilet, Swiffer the floor, fill the place with loved ones, call it heaven sent. If Auntie has a problem, she won’t stay long – problem solved.

All of the beauty of Christ is available to each of us always. This Christmas, let’s wallow in it! When you find yourself trapped in the bologna of Xmas, follow the simple steps above. If you’re not feeling it right now, it’s waiting for you. Yes, you. Each of us imperfect, comical, goofballs – God deeply loves us all!

Sending a big exhale and lots of love to each of you. Merry Christmas! To serve alongside you is a gift like no other. Thank you.
