Signs of Life:

Could You Just Listen?

There are people throughout our communities who face challenging mental health issues that relate to grief, loss, family conflict, work/career stress, parenting concerns, addiction and recovery, as well as anger and depression. Often these individuals find themselves facing these concerns isolated and alone. Many of these individuals are in our congregations or are neighbors, who come to our doors seeking assistance.  But what can the church do to be of help? Who has the time? Who has the training to make a difference when someone is in need?

Watch what I learned from The Methodist Counseling Center in Boise, Idaho:

After watching the video, reflect on these questions:
1.  What are the mental health needs you see in your congregation/community?
2.  What are you currently doing to respond to these needs?
3.  What else could you do, as a congregation, to be of support to folks seeking counseling and mental health support?

Blessings on your journey,

Lowell
