Praise Music Director

The First United Methodist Church is a reconciling congregation with two service offerings located in downtown Salem, Oregon.  The early service has a praise band that offers a connection to the spiritual lessons embodied in the music and the lessons of the message.  We need an excellent musician that can grow our praise service.  We are looking for a knowledgeable person with skills in praise music that is interested in using their skills to deepen discipleship with the congregation.  The candidate needs to be organized and willing to collaborate with the pastoral staff, church staff, and Music Director. The Praise Music Director needs to be flexible and skilled in working with congregational musicians. We are looking for a competent and creative musician with a willingness to become familiar with the liturgical calendar. Applicants need to have a passion for the music and an acute awareness of the connection to worship. 
Position Responsibilities and Duties 
The position description is attached that identifies Priority Responsibilities and Other Responsibilities. 
The position is for 20 hours per week with a salary of $18,500 - $20,000 based on experience.

Applicants need to provide a cover letter expressing their experience and knowledge as it relates to the position.  The letter should provide examples from their experience of the qualities identified for the position.  A detailed resume with at least 3 references should accompany the letter of interest.

Following a review of letters of interest and resumes, the selection committee will identify a limited number of candidates for a personal interview and trial of working with the Praise musicians.  Additional details of the interview process will be provided to the selected applicants.
