Outreach and Children/Families Ministries Coordinator at Morningside United Methodist Church, Salem, Oregon
Part-time position: Average 15 hours a week

Responsibilities Include:
*    Organize, oversee and work with Outreach Ministry Teams to recruit, train and support volunteers to lead and serve in outreach programs, including the weekly school year Kid’s Club and monthly school year Parent’s Night Out.
*    Meet with Outreach Ministry Teams monthly to support planning and implementation of ministries and program.
*    Participate in Kid’s Club and Parent’s Night Out.
*    Work with Christian Education Ministry Team to develop Christian Education programs and to recruit and train volunteers to lead the programs, and with the pastor to lead confirmation classes.
*    Coordinate schedule of Christian Education and Outreach Programs including facility and equipment use: ensure availability of appropriate materials and supplies.
*    Maintain records and ensure compliance with Safe Sanctuary policy.
*    Facilitate communication among the Outreach and Education Ministry Teams, church staff and congregation.
*    Connect with people beyond Morningside UMC to learn needs, share ideas and coordinate larger community projects.
*    Establish and monitor the budget for community outreach activities and education programs.
*    Energize the congregation and encourage participation by the congregation and others in Outreach and Education projects that include varying degrees of commitment.

*    Excellent interpersonal communication skills, ability to work with persons of all ages, organizational skills, and ability to develop, coordinate and manage a multifaceted program.
*    Experience in and understanding of the principles of community outreach and effective program planning/implementation, and volunteer management.
*    Knowledge of Christian Education, child development, and principles of effective planning and implementation.
*    Experience in Christian education, education, recreation, counseling or similar field(s) and developing purposeful education programs.
*    Must pass background checks, including references and a criminal background check
