Youth Ministries Program Coordinator for Local Church (Morningside United Methodist Church)

Morningside United Methodist Church (MUMC) in Salem is hiring a part time Youth Ministries Program Coordinator for up to 10 hours a week. The Youth Ministries Program Coordinator will work closely with other church positions including the Christian Education Program Coordinator and Community Outreach Program Coordinator in order to provide cohesive support for the children and families in our church and community.

• Provide middle school and high school youth group programming.
• Work with Youth Ministries Team (YMT) to develop and implement youth programs and activities including but not limited to weekly youth group(s), retreats, and mission trips.
• Work with YMT to recruit and train volunteers to lead and chaperone youth activities; monitor and support volunteers.
• Maintain records, ensure compliance with Safe Sanctuary policy.
• Invite youth to active participation in youth programming.
• Communicate with leadership of other UM churches and explore opportunities for joint activities and projects for the youth.
• Coordinate schedule of youth activities, including facility and equipment use, travel, and transportation; ensure availability of appropriate equipment materials, and supplies.
• Prepare and lead spiritual programming; establish and maintain communication with parents.

• Excellent interpersonal communication skills and the ability to work effectively with persons of all ages.
• Excellent organizational skills and the ability to develop, coordinate, and manage a multifaceted program of youth activities.
• Experience in or knowledge of community outreach, and principles of effective program planning and implementation.
• Experience in or knowledge of volunteer management, including recruiting, training, coordinating and supporting volunteers.
• Experience in Christian education, youth development, education, recreation, counseling or similar field(s).
• Experience or knowledge of developing and implementing purposeful programs for youth.

• This is a part time position up to 10 hours/week.
• Compensation at $12 to $16/hour depending on experience.
