St. Paul’s UMC: Contemporary Music and Technology Director Position Is God calling you to uphold a strong legacy of music and create an inspiring, uplifting, soulful music ministry? St. Paul’s United Methodist Church seeks a passionate follower of Jesus Christ to share an energetic spirit and dynamic music ministry. The church is a mainstream denomination located in Idaho Falls, ID in a city of over 50,000 residents. The church includes families of all ages with a passion for Jesus, missions and quality led music. There are two services on Sunday morning, a contemporary and traditional style. The Music Director position is a part-time ministry position with the purpose of leading the praise band to engage the congregation in worship through music. The Music Director works closely with the Pastor, the Staff, and the Staff Parish Relations Team. The Music Director’s purpose and goal is to lead worship and bring others closer to Christ so that they: • May grow in understanding of the Christian Faith and music’s role in that faith. • May engage visual senses in worship through technology • May develop and strengthen their relationship with the Triune God. • May become better equipped for daily living as faithful Christian disciples. Job Responsibilities: • Primary responsibilities will be leading music, sound quality, and media for the worship services. • Lead weekly praise band practices. • Recruit and support new member talent for all music ministry. • Communicate with church secretary and pastor to supply weekly song information, and special event music bulletin information. • Organize and arrange substitute music direction and support as needed. • Develop and support effective musical leadership in the church. • Manage praise music budget and evaluate music department needs, including requests on behalf of technical committee. This also includes maintenance and purchase of contemporary music department equipment. • Keep abreast of current trends in worship, sound, and media styles and practices, selecting music and worship media to create worship programs that are spiritually enriching and dynamic. • Work collaboratively with sound engineers and media technicians to ensure music of the highest quality. • Demonstrate skill and understanding in the use of worship-oriented technologies: sound, computer software, and video projection. • Help plan and execute special services as listed in the United Methodist planning calendar (e.g. Ash Wednesday, Easter, Christmas Eve) • Must be able to play a musical instrument, preferably a piano, or keyboard. • Interest in a wide range of musical experiences. • Ability to work with volunteers and committees. • Dedicated to the well-being and enhancements of the current and future music program. • Dependable and responsible for being on time. Skills, Knowledge, and Experience Requirements: • Belief in St. Paul’s mission, methods, principles, and structure • Knowledge of and dedication to promoting United Methodist doctrine • Desire to help people grow in relationship to God through worship music • High-level organizational skills • Excellent writing and verbal communication skills • Ability to establish and maintain effective and harmonious working relationships with staff, volunteers, and the congregation • Energetic and spiritually mature leadership skills Education Requirements: • Associate or higher college degree required • Major/minor in Music preferred This position requires the passing of a background check Submit resume to Pastor Nancy at
