Notes of Rest is a spiritual mini-retreat offered to the clergy and pastors of the Cascadia District, Oregon-Idaho Annual Conference, and the Crest-to-Coast District, Pacific Northwest Annual Conference.
The retreat is led by Julian Davis Reid, an artist-theologian who uses words and music to invite us into the restful life we were created to live. He earned an M.Div. at Candler School of Theology at Emory University and his B.A. in philosophy at Yale University. He has released three studio albums, the latest being Rest Assured, a collection of hymns on solo piano.
Notes of Rest places meditations from the Bible or a Black author on a bed of music in order to cultivate rest, contemplation and creativity in all who have ears to hear. This mini-retreat will last 90 minutes and be held online through a Zoom link.

“As a pastor, experiencing Notes of Rest for my own spiritual well-being is wonderful. Being filled with God’s Word in these creative ways truly refreshes and energizes the soul. I’d recommend Notes of Rest for anyone who just needs their spiritual tank refilled or who likes the challenge of fusing scripture and creative works. This is the experience for you.” - Carson Thaxton, UMC Pastor from Notes of Rest for Pastors
