Jurisdictional & General Conference Connection
General Conference meets every four years and is the body that decides the mission, direction, budget, and positions of the United Methodist Church across the Globe. Every annual conference is represented by delegates. In 2016 the Oregon-Idaho had two delegates among the 864 assigned positions at the General Conference hosted in Portland, Oregon. At the Western Jurisdictional Conference in 2016 the Oregon-Idaho Conference had six voting delegates.
Special Called Session of General Conference in February 2019
The United Methodist Council of Bishops has called a special session of the General Conference of The United Methodist Church to be held February 23-26, 2019 in St. Louis, Missouri. The purpose will be to receive and act on a report from the Commission on a Way Forward based on the recommendations of the Council of Bishops.
The Oregon-Idaho Confernece will be represented at the 2019 General Confernce by the same delegation that served in 2016. Jan Nelson and Rev. Donna Pritchard are the elected delegates along with a them of reserve delegates. Learn more on the umc.org website.
The next regular session of the General Conference will be held in St. Paul, Minnesota, May 5-15, 2020.
The Jurisdictional Conference of the of the Western Jurisdiction of The United Methodist Church will be held in July of 2020 in Billings, Montana.
