Our micro-grant project focused on a autumn Funday School for children and youth who do not regularly attend Sunday worship. The grant was used to pay for a teacher intern, curriculum, crafts and supplies.
After the class, all groups meeting gathered in the sanctuary for a closing prayer/hymn. While the program brought in a couple of children beyond our typical reach, it was met with fair results.
The big takeaway for our church was that it highlighted another model of teaching that we may implement this fall - utilizing paid college interns to teach Sunday School. We believe this may help our ongoing dilemma of finding Sunday School teachers and be a spiritual benefit for the interns as well. Stay tuned!
