Ministerial Education Fund (MEF)
The Ministerial Education Fund (MEF) provides scholarships and grants to reimburse educational offerings for ministers serving churches or other appointed ministry settings. Eligible applicants include ordained and commissioned clergy, licensed local pastors, certified lay ministers, and lay persons assigned to a pastoral role. The MEF policy also allows for grants for ongoing supports such as clergy coaching and spiritual direction. Potential applicants are encouraged to read the MEF Policy to get familiar with the options before applying for financial assistance.
Applicants are also encouraged to read ¶350 in the 2016 Book of Discipline before applying for MEF monies. Note that a sabbatical leave (¶351) is different from the renewal leaves described in ¶350.
