Announcing the 2012 Season of Camps for Children, Youth, Adults and Families
The Camp and Retreat Ministries program has launched it 2012 program of camps for children, youth, and adults. Once again, from the oceans to the mountains campers will be able to experience God in nature, each other, and themselves.
The theme, “Got Spirit? Finding God in the Everyday”, weaves through many of the camp sessions. It will help campers explore the different ways God revels God’s self to the human family. As the campers look at God’s creation, God’s presence, and how we connect to God through worship the scriptures will help affirm God’s presence in the ordinary moments of life. Each age level at camp follows the same themes, but explores them at different, age appropriate, levels.
Registering for camp is fast and easy. Online registration is a great way to take care of everything whenever you want to access it. Every camp description is listed at www.GoCamping.org and there is a “register” button for each camp. Camp registrar, Geneva Cook can assist with any questions. Contact her at Geneva@umoi.org or 503-802-9213.
The 2012 catalog of camp programs has been mailed to past campers and local churches. It can also be viewed online. Just go to GoCamping.org and click on 2012 Camp Catalog.
Financial resources should never stop a child or youth from experiencing camp. Scholarships are often available from the local church, and limited funds are also available from the camp and retreat office. Contact your local church camping coordinator, pastor, or Geneva at the camping office for more information. Churches can award a campership to to new Bible recipients (3rd graders), Confirmation class students, and all new members. The Confirmation and New Member camperships, along with other resources for local churches, are on the website at gocamping.org/resources/church-resources.
