About David Thompson
David Thompson, pastor of First United Methodist Church of Roseburg. Pastored churches in Oregon and Idaho for the past 40 years. Married to Kim. Father to Jeff and Pat.
"I grew up in a small community where I was involved in a variety of sports. In addition, I worked on farms, bucking hay, moving pipe and doing anything that needed to be done.
After seminary, my active life became much more sedentary. My weight went up and I did less and less.
I also did little to deal with my stress, choosing to work more and harder rather than learning how to balance my life. I thought that the more I did, the better I would be liked.
After a number of years, I found myself in the hospital getting ready for double bypass surgery. I made a vow to myself that I would make the lifestyle changes that were necessary to become healthy and centered.
I have striven to stay true to my desire to be whole and healthy. I must admit that Covid threw a wrench into the works. I spent more and more time trying to guide Roseburg UMC through the quarantine. I found myself more and more tired. My physical regimen fell by the wayside.
Now, I am once again doing the work that will help me center myself and I want to share some of the things that I have learned."
