Praying Our Way Forward

In prayer, we can be one in Christ.
The people of The United Methodist Church are joining together in prayer. Praying Our Way Forward is an initiative of the Council of Bishops to hold The United Methodist Church in prayer while the work of the Commission on a Way Forward does it's work.The Commission on a Way Forward was proposed by the Council of Bishops and approved by the 2016 General Conference to do a complete examination and possible revision of every paragraph of the Book of Discipline concerning human sexuality and explore options that help to maintain and strengthen the unity of the Church. Their work will come to a special called session of the General Conference, February 23-26, in St. Louis, Missouri.
In Phase 1 the bishops of the church committed to at least 15 minutes of prayer for the church. Phase 2 started in January of 2017 and calls for every annual conference to be in prayer for one week. It began in January with the North Carolina Conference, and will finish in the West Angola Episcopal area in June 2018.
The call to pray is similar to the 181 days of prayer that were held before the 2016 General Conference in Portland, Oregon. Once again Upper Room ministries is offering resources for prayer. United Methodist Women, United Methodist Men, and United Methodist Communications are partners in the prayer initiative.
Oregon-Idaho's week of prayer is December 10 - 16, 2017
