Lawrence “Larry” E. Monk March 2, 1933 – October 11, 2022
Reverend Larry Monk died on Tuesday, October 11, 2022. Larry is survived by his wife, Linda; his eight children; Cheryl Gertz, Daryl Monk, Tanya Mounts, Laurie Fugle, Jeanie Monk, Daniel Monk, David Kowalsky and Casey Christopher; 18 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Rev. Monk served Hampton-Glen Gardner in the Northern New Jersey Conference and West Salem, Sheridan, Stayton, Portland: Garden Home, Portland: Bennett Chapel/Lents, Sweet Home, Roseburg, Oregon City and Metzger in the Oregon-Idaho Conference. Rev. Monk retired in 1997.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. The family will be sitting Shiva this week on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday from 5:00-7:00 pm at their home and people are welcome to stop by to offer condolences.
The family suggests that contributions in memory of Larry be made to the Centro Cultural Center at 1110 North Adair Street, Cornelius, OR 97113 or to Los Romeritos with checks made out to Oregon City UMC, c/o Linda Monk at 4721 NE Killingsworth #17, Portland, OR 97218.
